TRUTH OF THE GOSPEL cont.
The Bible gives and absolutely undeniable definition of what the Gospel is. I truly believe that the Holy Spirit ANTICIPATED the attempt of religion to re-define the Gospel and that is one of the reasons He included this passage in God's Word. Other passages that I believe fit this category are Jn. 10:28 and Ep.4:30. In 1 Cor. 15:1-4 we find the BIBLICAL definition of the Gospel in unmistakable clarity. It is nothing more or less than the preaching of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This is the Gospel that Christ Himself preached during His ministry ( Mk. 1:15, Jn. 8:24) , that the first preachers proclaimed (Ac.2:23-24, 10:34-47, 13:24-30) and here in this passage the Gospel which Paul had 1. received (vs.3) 2. preached (vs.1) ,and that the church at Corinth had 1. received (vs.1) and 2. stood on (vs. 1). If we add to this (works by man ) , It is not the Gospel and if we take away from this (don't preach the blood) it is not the Gospel. If it's not the Gospel, then it DOES NOT HAVE THE POWER TO BRING SALVATION (Ro.1:16 ). The only Gospel that is able to do this is the One in the Bible. All other "gospels " include mans effort and are what the Bible calls "another gospel"that is to be placed under the curse of God Almighty ( Ga. 1:8-9).
