Speaking where the Bible speaks
The church of Christ has made the brag " We speak where the Bible speaks and are silent where the Bible is silent". When it comes to the Gospel ,though, they certainly have not lived up to this pridefully religious statement. They make the claim that water baptism is part of the Gospel WHEN IT IS NOT. It was not part of the Gospel that Abraham received ( Gal.3:8). It was not in the Gospel that Christ preached during His ministry. It was not in the Gospel that Peter preached on the day of Pentecost. It is not in the BIBLICAL definition of the Gospel ( 1Cor.15:1-4). Lastly, it was not part of the Gospel that Paul preached. Here is what Paul said about baptism being part of the Gospel; "For Christ sent me NOT TO BAPTIZE, but to preach the Gospel" (1Cor.1:17). To all those denominations that include baptismal remission as part of the Gospel (church of Christ, Catholic, Lutheran, etc. ,I have an admonition for you. STOP SPEAKING WHERE SCRIPTURE HAS NOT SPOKEN concerning the Gospel. If you are teaching that the Gospel includes baptism YOU ARE TEACHING A LIE. Scripture does not agree with your theology. Peter does not agree with your theology. Paul does not agree with your theology. Stop it!
