Ages And Dispensations
In every age and dispensation there have been religious people and people of faith. Abraham is called the "father of faith" in Ro. 4:11 to ALL THEM THAT BELIEVE. In the time before the Law you had Cain (works) and Abel (faith). In the time of the Law you had the Prophets (faith) and the Pharisees (works). Now in the Church age we still have those who teach salvation by works and those who teach salvation by grace through faith in Christ alone for salvation.Paul had to deal with this issue in Acts 15 and a considerable part of His ministry was spent defending the TRUTH OF THE GOSPEL, which He readily and passionately did (Galatians Ch. 1 and 2). These religious people, regardless of the time they lived , all had something in common; salvation was SECURED and SUSTAINED by man, not Christ. It is no different today. Man is still lifted up in pride as he "helps out" with the salvation He has. The attitude is the same whether secular or religious; "WE WILL GET TO GOD BY OUR OWN EFFORT". This was the mindset that was prevalent at Babel in Gen.11:4 and will continue until Christ comes for His Church. Consider this if you are attempting to save or keep yourself saved by works or deeds of righteousness that YOU offer to God ( Ro.3:20,28, Ro.4:4-5,Ro.10:3, Tit.3:5). The salvation that you recieve from God had better be THE GIFT OF GOD (not earned) or it is not salvation! If it is earned, it is a paycheck and the reward recieved will be eternal separation from God ! Finally, consider this;not ONE example can be found in the entire Bible of God rejecting a person who FULLY trusts in Christ for salvation, but there are numerous examples of God rejecting those who TRUSTED IN THEMSELVES for salvation. Man will give you false hope, but Christ gives ETERNAL life (Jn.10:28) Fully trust Him today!
